日本社会や日本文化に対する理解として、日本人が常識的に持ち合わせている日本の歴史に関する知識を学ぶ。自国の歴史の変遷と日本の歴史の変遷が並行して捉えられるようになる。

As an understanding of Japanese society and culture, students will learn the knowledge of Japanese history that Japanese people have in common. Students will be able to understand the historical transition of their own country and that of Japan in parallel.

授業では当該科目に必要な情報を提供し、時代ごとにクイズを行って得られた知識を確認する。また、ディスカッションを通じて日本の歴史に関する理解を深める。

In class, necessary information for the subject will be provided, and quizzes will be given for each period to confirm the knowledge gained. Students will also deepen their understanding of Japanese history through discussion.

Week 3: Yamato Period
Week 4: Nara Period
Week 5: Heian Period
Week 6: Kamakura Period
Week 7: Muromachi Period
Week 8: Mid-term exam and explanation of the exam
Week 9: The Warring States period
Week 10: Azuchi-Momoyama period
Week 11: Edo Period 1
Week 12: Edo Period 2
Week 13: Meiji Era
Week 14: Taisho and Showa periods
Week 15: Final exam and explanation

配布プリントの予習・復習を 行う。課題が提示された場合は課題を行う。
Review the distributed handouts. Do the assignments if they are presented.

参加度10%、試験30%、クイズと課題60%
(ただし、欠席が全クラスの3分の1以上の場合は「不可」となる。)
10% participation, 30% exam, 60% quizzes and assignments(If absences are more than 1/3 of the total class, the student will receive a “not acceptable" grade.)

When you talk to Japanese people, we expect you to be able to communicate well with them according to the general knowledge of history that they have.
